Along Came Polyvore

Friday, September 30, 2011
There are many things that I love to do, but wasting time putting together a virtual outfit is not really something I ever thought I would "love". But along came Polyvore, and now I'm hooked. You all know that I am slightly challenged when it comes to dressing myself. I often rely on my sister or mom when going shopping. Putting together outfits has never really been my thing. Give me a cute dress, or a simple top and jeans, and I'm good to go. So this whole "creating a super cute outfit with lots of pieces" is more than intimidating for me. But for crying out loud, I love it!

With my sudden obsession for Pinterest, I kept noticing all these really great ensembles that people were posting, and was curious where they were finding them. That's how I came across the Polyvore site. It's a little overwhelming in the beginning, but lots of fun. I'm starting simple, and sticking to the things I know. Simple, classic pieces that make for cute-casual outfits. Here is my first attempt- a "travel chic" outfit for my upcoming trip to Denver.

Trip to Denver

Abercrombie Fitch knit top
$88 - abercrombie.com

Dorothy Perkins double breasted coat
£69 - dorothyperkins.com

Tint jeans
$185 - net-a-porter.com

Stuart Weitzman knee boots
£243 - theoutnet.com

Banana Republic tiered necklace
$60 - bananarepublic.gap.com

For some reason, I have always enjoyed looking nice when traveling. But comfort is almost equally important. Since I'm going somewhere where it will actually be cold, the idea of a bright, fun coat is really what inspired the outfit. And then I chose pieces for layering in case I got warm on the plane. I would most likely wear a light grey t-shirt under the sweater. I just like the combination and think that it looks very "me".
